Listening to The Black Angels, working on the bike, lookin like Super Mario. Goodtimes.

headlight bracket
By sheer coincidence, the bracket that held the horn up (before i ripped it off with disdain) caught my eye, and i realized that with a little fabrication, it would make the perfect mount for my headlight. Torched and hammered it to the angle I wanted and took out the rubber washers that were previously there. It bolted right up to bolt receivers on the lower triple tree. A little paint and it will be good to go.
mockup V1.5
Drilled mounts for the oil bag, battery box, and fender. Measure, mark, measure, drill small, drill medium, drill large, repeat.
Broke a drill bit in the process (don't tell Casey, fortunately he doesn't check this blog). You can see where this is going. It looks more and more like an actual motorcycle each day.

Carb Rebuild phase 1
Carb Rebuild kit arrived today from Mikes XS so I started rebuilding the Carbs for the bobber. Its a bit more complicated than I had initially thought, also due to the false sense of ease that William has instilled in me about the whole process. FML

Dickies Overalls
Ordered. No more grease, oil, gas, or cum stains on my clothes from working on bikes. Don't mind the last one...I don't know how it keeps happening but its really a problem.

PARTS PARTS PARTS
Bunch of goodies arrived today for the bobber. Brake cam holder, lowering tubes, fender bungs, tank petcock, faux oil bag for electrical, and battery box. All ready for welding now, just gotta find someone how makes house calls. We tried to do some TIG welding ourselves but ended up getting splatter all over the frame and fucking ourselves. Lesson learned: welding is not going to be a skill I pick up in this process, there is a reason people make careers out of it.

piss tank
Finally painted the ugly yellow tank to gunmetal. Used duplicolor wheel paint. It has a weird texture that I don't really like, but it makes the bike look a lot better. Finally getting legit.

Burnouts FTW
On gravel...so not really a burnout...more like a dugout....Don't mind the Star Wars van in the background...

First group ride of the season
Myself, William, and Casey went on the first group ride of the season to West Seattle, down Alki Beach. Took some photos along the way, and Casey even edited a little video from the day. In the opening clip, I am laughing as I pull up beside Casey who is filming; this is because William just flipped off an old man riding a longboard down the beach sidewalk. It was very rude.

Cafe love
Decided to take a break from the bobber while waiting for some parts to arrive and show the cafe a little bit of love. Its a Honda CB550 that looks and runs like shit, but I love it. Put a new tank on from a CB750, new clubman bars, and rebuilt the carbs which made a world of difference. The ride went from feeling like a couple cans of reconstituted horse meat rolling down the street held together with dental floss and cinder blocks, to actually feeling more like a tricycle found at the bottom of a pool at an abandoned mental hospital. At least the latter was actually meant to be ridden....

Planned Parenthood
Decided to utilize the chalkboard wall to write out the plan of attack for the "Daddy Magnet" as William has aptly named it. I think he is trying to be offensive and suggest something about my sexual orientation if I were to indeed finish and ride this bobber. He thinks that I'm building it to attract other males, hence "Daddy Magnet." This is not true, and just plain rude.

Cutting things and being a man
First run at the angle-grinder. I thought I would surely cut a finger off or lose an eye to sparks since William took off all the safety features on the grinder. Turns out its not so bad.
We cut off the stock tank mounts in order to mount the new sportster tank since the channel is really tight and flush with the frame. Thats what she said...

Mockup V1.0
First run at mocking up the bobber. Its looking good with the mags on. Its really small and compact which is nice for me because I'd like to go other directions than in a straight line. William says thats all it can do though, but he is also really rude sometimes so who knows.
